The next step of the UGP is the project proposal. Remember, once you’ve completed this, there’s no turning back—so think deeply about your choices before submitting your proposal.
Your 1 page proposal needs to address the following questions: •Which genre would you like to read and write in for your UPG? •What experiences, if any, do you have with reading or writing in this genre? •What do you already know about this genre? •Why are you choosing this genre? •What would you like to learn by studying this genre and completing this project?
Consider the tragic ending of the play and what led up to it. What role did expectations have in the deaths of Romeo and of Juliet? Consider multiple characters and how their expectations contributed to the goings on of the play. Be sure to refer to specific events in your response.
Act III scene i is a wild one in which both Mercutio and Tybalt die and Romeo is banished. My question to you is this: Who is to blame for what unfolded in III.i? Today we discussed the second principle of the Iceberg Theory -- grace comes from understatement. Part of this is the creation of the code hero or the "Hemingway Hero".
I'd like you to find a hero in a popular movie or TV show that fits the code. Using your notes from class, discuss how your hero fits the mold of a Hemingway hero. What's the adversity he/she faces? How does he/she cope with it? Your response should be about 8-12 sentences long.

An author’s purpose is defined as his or her intent or goal for a particular piece of writing. Rather than limiting the intent of a novel or essay to a singular main idea, exploring the purpose of an author offers a more open-ended interpretation.
What do you feel is Hemingway’s purpose in "The End of Something"? What issues drive the text? What ideas does it explore? What is it that the author wants to reader to take away? Please discuss your ideas thoroughly and support them by referencing specific elements of the text.
The images above picture advertisements for beauty products. Consider our discussions about color, brand associations, and the tactics used by marketing companies to sell different products to different demographics of people. What is the project of each piece? How are they alike in someways and very, very different in others? Look to the imagery, use of color, and the presentation of the models for support.
