The images above picture advertisements for beauty products. Consider our discussions about color, brand associations, and the tactics used by marketing companies to sell different products to different demographics of people. What is the project of each piece? How are they alike in someways and very, very different in others? Look to the imagery, use of color, and the presentation of the models for support.
Your answer should be thorough and pull evidence from the texts (in this case we mean the images). Look to write between 10-12 sentences. Due before class on Friday.
For homework, read the article "Ulterior Motives: What Does Advertising Do" by Art Markman, Ph.D. First, define "affective conditioning" and how it works in advertising. Then, find an ad online that utilizes this technique. Discuss how the advertisement uses affective conditioning and the effects it has on the viewer. In what ways is the ad creating a positive association with the product and other things "we probably feel pretty good about already"? How or why is this effective?
Please discuss in 8-10 sentences. Also, too, please include a link to the advertisement.
